Frequently Asked Questions on Our Seafood Products

ARE MARITHYME SEAFOOD PRODUCTS CAUGHT AND PROCESSED IN THE UNITED STATES?

YES!! Unfortunately, it is not uncommon practice that domestically caught seafood is shipped overseas for processing and then shipped back to be sold! It is more common than many realize and is part of the supply chain that is often overlooked. We make sure that all of our seafood is 100% caught in American waters and are processed by US facilities.

HOW CAN I TRACK MY ORDER?

Once your order ships you will receive an email with a link that is tied to your FedEx shipping information. You will be able to track your order from the time it leaves the fulfillment center until it arrives at your door! We will always let you know which day it is expected to arrive, but due to local FedEx delivery schedules, we do not know exactly when it will arrive during the business day. There is plenty of dry ice in your package so it will be fine if you can not make it home exactly when it arrive

WHAT TO DO ONCE MY SEAFOOD ARRIVES?

Once your package arrives, you should inspect your order to make sure everything looks frozen. While we do not expect any issues with delivery, things that are out of our control do happen. If you do suspect an issue, see the next item for how to proceed. If everything is still frozen, immediately place in the freezer!

WHAT TO DO IF FISH SEEMS THAWED UPON ARRIVAL?

This is a worse case scenario, but due to conditions out of our control, this could happen. If the product only seems slightly thawed on the edges, it is fine, just place immediately in the freezer. If the product is completely thawed, please contact us immediately at 423-529-3791, or at info@marithymeseafood.com.

HOW TO DISPOSE OF DRY ICE?

Dry ice is dangerous, and can cause injury if not properly handled. The dry ice will be contained in a plastic bag. The dry ice will dissipate within a few hours, so it can be left in the delivery box. If for whatever reason you must move the dry ice, use a pair of tongs, or a thick towel. Never touch with your bare hand!

HOW TO STORE FROZEN FISH?

Your product will arrive frozen, and needs to stay frozen until you are ready to thaw it out. Standard freezers operate from 0-5 degrees fahrenheit. This is perfect!

HOW LONG CAN MY SEAFOOD STAY IN THE FREEZER?

As long as the vacuum sealed packages are still sealed, your seafood can last many months in your freezer. Depending on your freezer type and the temperature it is stored at, the nutritional benefits and quality of the seafood can last anywhere from 6- 12 months.

HOW LONG DOES SEAFOOD TAKE TO THAW?

The best way to thaw frozen wild caught seafood is overnight in the refrigerator. This ensures that the fish is kept at a proper temperature, and will help preserve the flavor and nutrition. However, sometimes planning isn’t always an option, or you’re wanting to have some seafood immediately. Placing your seafood in the sink or a shallow dish with COLD water will allow the product to thaw in less than an hour at a safe temperature. NEVER use hot water as this seriously compromises the product and the health benefits that we have worked so hard to preserve.

CAN I COOK FROM FROZEN?

We do not recommend cooking from frozen. Because wild caught seafood takes much less time than farm raised seafood to cook, the chances of overcooking and spoiling your prized catch is likely to happen. Always thaw first to ensure you are getting to enjoy your seafood the way it should be!

WHAT TO DO IF A VACUUM SEAL IS POPPED?
All of our fish is vacuum sealed. Meaning that all the air has been removed from the package. This keeps any oxidation from happening which is what causes “freezer burn”. If you do notice that a package has been “popped”, we recommend enjoying that piece first, to avoid any further oxidation, or feel free to contact us at 423-529-3791 or at info@marithymeseafood.com to discuss further options!
